The Hunters Lodge Inn

'Traditional, family run, 16th Century Coaching Inn serving great food every day '

Celebrating 10 Years at The Hunters Lodge, July '13

'Mine Hosts'  - Neville & Sarah

'Neville first caught my eye when I  was 15; We have been together ever since then and, being able to work together every day, sharing the same vision, for our home, and business, which we both love, is just great.

Although I trained in floristry after leaving school, after we married in 1996 I soon became a mother after having our first son, Jake, I went on to have our second son Harvey 2 years later.

I was a 'stay at home mum' until we took on the Hunters Lodge - and had never had any experience in the hospitality industry so, it was a big eye opener for me!

Neville began his training to become a Chef at the age of 16, in a 4* Hotel in our home town, Lyme Regis, he then went on to become second Chef of a 67 room hotel in Sidmouth before returning to Lyme, following the birth of our 2 children around 1999.

He became Head Chef at a popular seaside restaurant there before changing direction slightly and becoming manager of a local renowned seafront Inn.

After 2 successful years here, we saw an advert for the lease on The Hunters  Lodge and decided to take the plunge and have a go at running our own business.

When we walked into the pub on the 3rd July, 2003 we knew we were going to have our work cut out - but I don't think either of us realised quite how hard it would be.

Whilst we have worked  extremely hard to get to where we are today,we couldn't have done it without our fabulous team of Staff - several of which have been with us for many years - including Ruth, our Chef who was here when we first took over the pub.

It has taken years of  determination, and all our savings, but we are proud of what we have achieved and to hear the positive comments we receive on a daily basis from customers it makes it all worth while.

As you can imagine, in our trade we don't get much spare time, but Nev enjoys playing Pool on Sunday evening in a team that represents our Pub in the local league, he has also served 25 years as a volunteer at the Lyme Regis Lifeboat Station, and organises a Charity Sleigh around Lyme Regis at Christmas time which has raised thousands over the 15 years we have been doing it.

I was the trainer of the Karizma Majorettes for 17 years, having just recently given up, and  I am also the current producer of our local Pantomime Society in Lyme Regis - oh yes I am! I also  take to the stage annually with my friends in the Lyme Regis Musical Theatre and Bridport Musical Theatre groups . (Basically, I LOVE singing and dancing!!)

Our eldest son Jake is currently at university in Swansea studying Zoology and hopes to go on to work in the conservation and ecology field. Harvey our youngest,  hopes to study Performing Arts/ Muscial Theatre in London and is busy preparing for auditions, in the meantime, he will be starting a Creative Music Technology degree at Bristol Uni in September of this year.

Needless to say, we are extremely proud of them both.

We hope that you will take time to visit us here at The Hunters Lodge where we are always waiting to give you a very warm welcome.
